Levántate

‘Out of This World’

1,100 deeply moved by Levántate, Moody’s first Spanish men’s conference

Up until the day of the event, Moody Bible Institute’s leadership wasn’t sure how the Hispanic community would respond to Levántate, Moody’s inaugural Spanish-language men’s conference. Leaders prayerfully committed Levántate’s success to God and trusted Him for the outcome.

Their prayers were answered beyond anyone’s loftiest expectations. An audience of 1,100 Hispanic men ranging in age from 10 to 82 turned out March 25 for a special day of heartfelt Bible preaching, worship, and prayer. By the time the conference concluded on Moody’s Chicago campus, countless attendees left Torrey-Gray Auditorium ready to take the next step in their walk with Christ.

“The men's conference was just out of this world,” one Levántate participant said following the event.

“The men from our church have not stopped talking about it. One man who I have known for years and I don't think is even a Christian said he went home and couldn't even talk with his wife about it because he just kept crying.”

Numerous men came forward to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior or to commit their lives to Him during the inaugural Levántate conference.

At the heart of the conference was a lineup of standout Bible teachers led by Moody President Dr. Mark Jobe, who was raised by missionaries in Spain and speaks Spanish fluently, as well as Spanish pastor Itiel Arroyo and Hanibal Rodriguez, senior pastor of Wheaton (Illinois) Bible Church. The speakers encouraged the men to “rise up” (Levántate’s meaning in English) and give God control over every area of their lives—from their marriages and families to their friendships and careers. At the end of the event, numerous men came forward to profess saving faith in Christ after hearing the gospel presented.

Levántate’s central message resonated with those in attendance. One attendee said afterwards, “The Lord is calling Latino men to this type of event, and we cannot ignore it. Events like this build communion among brothers and foster love for world evangelization. After this event I was encouraged that there is hope for the Latino Christian men in Chicago.”

The next Levántate conference will take place on April 20, 2024 on Moody’s Chicago campus
